African citizens, including Ugandans, Kenyans, Ethiopians, and Egyptians, are being exploited in cyber-slavery scams in Southeast Asia, particularly in Myanmar and Cambodia. These victims are promised well-paid jobs but end up being forced to work long hours in compounds where they are subjected to beatings and exploitation.

The article discusses how HRC is working to raise awareness about this issue and assist victims in returning home, emphasizing the need for East African governments to take action to address the root causes of cyber slavery and support returning victims.
