Wi-Fi Available at Sea – but Not for Fishers

In this briefing, a collaborative effort with the Global Labor Justice – International Labor Rights Forum (GLJ-ILRF),Taiwan Association for Human Rights (TAHR), Stella Maris Organisation, Serve the People Association (SPA), and Indonesian Seafarers Gathering Forum (FOSPI), we respond to FAQ’s from our first briefing.

Despite the increasing efficiency and affordability of Wi-Fi technology on board long distance vessels, this right is limited to few senior crew members. We urge the Taiwanese government to mandate Wi-Fi for all crew members on long distance fishing vessels, ensuring basic human and labour rights for all fishers on Taiwanese ships.
